William S. (Sam) Singleton

Founder & CEO

Sam began his work in the Medical Cost Projections field with his development of what became one of the largest IME firms on the east coast at the time of its sale to exam works. Following were successful ventures in developing companies in medical services previews, compliant medical data collection and analysis technology, and Medicare Settlement Reports. 26 years of experience in the field prepared Sam to find, develop and collate the proprietary software that underpins the most accurate and defendable medical cost projections achievable today. Sam’s unique perspective, from both sides of the aisle, has led to his recognition as a Medical Costs Projections authority in the industry.

Karen dreamt about building her own company allowing her to “give back & help those in need”. Having achieved success in the MSA space a window of opportunity had presented itself. Karen’s timing, knowledge and innovative spirit worked favorably in the MSA industry and catapulted her vision of developing a software company which could automate consistent, reliable and accurate MSA submissions! The software was called FLUENT systems. FLUENT allows the user to evaluate and process a patient’s medical history in a systematically efficient & chronologically manner. FLUENT systems was built in conjunction with The Center for Medicare Set Asides best practices. With over 5,000 submittals FLUENT has produced an industry best 99.7% submission success rate! Karen became a Certified Medicare Secondary Payer Specialist (CMSP) in 2012 and has been actively involved in the National Association of Medicare Set Aside Professionals (NAMSAP) since 2003. Additionally, Karen is working on a data collection committee for NAMSAP.

In 2016 Karen started educating herself on Pharmacogenetics to provide a unique twist –on MSA’s, Medical Cost Projections and Drug Utilization Reviews. Pharmacogenetics’ is the study and application of customized medications based on a patient’s unique genome profile. The value in pairing MSA’s, MCP’s or DUR’s with a pharmacogenetics’ test eliminates sub-optimal prescribing, validates the efficacy of the medications being prescribed and can prevent a pre-surgical complication such as pulmonary embolism, DVT or VTE. The 4th leading cause of death in the US is caused by ADR’s or adverse drug reactions! ADR’s may occur when the wrong type of medication is written based on a patient’s genetic make-up. Additionally, pharmacogenetics can identify whether a patient is a normal, slow, rapid or ultra-rapid metabolizer of a medication

Karen is working feverishly to drive additional value in the MSA world with her innovative, customer centric, transparent and empathetic posture! To find out more about MSA Settlements go to www.msasettlements.com
